メリー New Album 『Strip』 アーティスト写真差し替えに関して
NewAlbum『Strip』のアーティスト写真において、多くの苦情を頂きましたので、制作意図と今後の対応について説明いたします。
今回のアーティスト写真は、偏愛というテーマの元、愛情や心臓を表現する深紅を基調とし、ガラを光の象徴、メンバー３人を影の象徴とし、対なる物を表現し撮影致しました。
この写真で誰かを傷つけたり、嫌な思いをさせてしまうような意図は全くありません。
しかし多くの方から苦情を頂いたという現実は過去の差別的表現が根深く残っており、それらを乗り越えて自分達の意図を伝えるにはいくつかの対応が必要と考えました。
よって同アーティスト写真は誰もが目にしてしまうような場面では別の物を使用し、差別的意図の無い事を理解し承諾した方にのみ目に入るように致します。
嫌な思いをされたり、心を痛めた方々に対しては、公表における配慮が足りなかった事を、深くお詫びいたします。
About Artist Photos for MERRY’s New Album “STRIP”
We have received a lot of criticism about our artist photos for the New Album “Strip”, so we would like to explain the meaning behind the photo and how are we going to handle it.
The main theme for these photos is “favoritism”. We used a deep red as main color to represent love and heart, and we wanted to portrait the contrast between light and shadows, personified by Gara and the other 3 members respectively.
We absolutely did not intend to be disrespectful, neither to hurt anyone’s feelings and sensibility.
However, the fact that many people have reached to us with complaints about the photos shows how much the discriminatory meaning involved in this kind of representation in the past is still deeply rooted. We have been thinking about this, and we understand we need to take some measures to overcome it and convey the message we meant to bring you with this photo.
For this reason, we have decided to use a different photo on the places where everyone may see it, making the current photos visible only to the people that understand that there is no racist meaning involved.
We understand we should have been more considerate unveiling these photos, and we sincerely apologize to all the people who had their sensibility hurt by them.
